RX Scenes Installation
RX Scenes lets players place text in the world and keep it there. Scenes are created from an in-game menu, styled with the fonts, colours, and sizes RedM supports, and saved so they survive a restart.
The resource is standalone: it needs no framework. Permissions are handled by listing player identifiers directly, which works on servers where ACE permissions do not.
Requirements
| Requirement | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
oxmysql | Stores created scenes so they persist across restarts. |
| A RedM server | RX Scenes uses RedM fonts, keybinds, and world drawing. |
No SQL file needs to be imported. The resource creates its own tables the first time it starts.
1. Place the resource
Extract the complete resource into your server’s resources directory. Keep the folder intact: the menus load their stylesheet and scripts from paths inside the resource.
The default extracted folder name is ripex-scenes.
2. Add it to server.cfg
Start oxmysql first so the tables can be created on the first run.
ensure oxmysql
ensure ripex-scenes If you renamed the resource folder, replace ripex-scenes with that exact folder name.
3. Add your admin identifier
Open config.lua and add the identifier of each account that should have admin access:
Config.AdminIdentifiers = {
'license:abc123def456789'
} To find yours, join the server and read the identifier from the server console. Add the full value including its prefix; license:, steam:, and discord: all work.
This is the entire permission setup. No server.cfg entry or ACE permission is required, which is why it also works on txAdmin-managed servers.
Do not commit
config.luato a public repository or share it in screenshots once your real identifiers are in it.
4. Choose your permission modes
The defaults let any player create and view scenes, while editing and deleting stay with whoever made the scene:
Config.Permissions = {
CreateScene = { mode = 'everyone' },
DeleteScene = { mode = 'owner_only' },
ManageScene = { mode = 'owner_only' },
ViewScenes = { mode = 'everyone' },
AdminCommands = { mode = 'restricted' }
} Set CreateScene to 'restricted' if scenes should be staff-placed only. See Configuration for every mode.
5. Verify the flow
Restart the server and test with an admin account and a normal one:
- Press
DELETEto open the scene creation menu and place a scene. - Press
F4to open the style menu and change its font, colour, and size. - Walk away and confirm the scene stops drawing past
maxViewDistance. - Restart the server and confirm the scene is still there.
- As the admin, press
F6to open the admin panel. - With a second account, confirm they cannot delete a scene they did not create.
If a keybind does nothing, check it is not F2, which RedM does not support. If a player is refused an action unexpectedly, set Config.Debug = true to see the permission check in the console, then turn it off again.
